Between us we have been gardening for more then 30 years, and our love for gardening has now become a bit more of an obsession, this has led us to start growing and selling plug plants to the general public, we think this is a cheap and ideal way to stock your garden with plants, we grow mainly perennial plants as this means the plants wi
Between us we have been gardening for more then 30 years, and our love for gardening has now become a bit more of an obsession, this has led us to start growing and selling plug plants to the general public, we think this is a cheap and ideal way to stock your garden with plants, we grow mainly perennial plants as this means the plants will come back year after year, and feel this provides value for money. We do also grow some bedding plants and annuals which will enable you to change how your garden looks from year to year, however, our main focus is on perennial plug plants.
From time to time we will also have young plants, 1-2 years old available, however these are subject to availability, but will be listed on our website when available.
Our passion for growing plants, means we want to help fill your garden with healthy, beautiful, colourful plants, from early spring right through to late summer.
The idea of growing plug plants started with growing many of our own garden plants, which was a cheaper alternative then visiting our local garden centre, and provided us with a lot more plants to eventually transplant into our garden.
We are passionate about plants, and wanted to share our passion with others with a similar interest, but also allow you to fill your garden with beautiful plants at a relatively low price.

To help you decide on what would work best in your garden, we offer a variety of perennial, bedding and annual plants, that will offer a range of colours throughout the year.

We know how excited you’ll be to receive your order from us, and we want to make sure your plug plants survive, therefore, we have put together some helpful tips you should take after receiving your order.
The first thing to do is to make sure you open your parcel, even if you don’t have the time to plant your plug plants, it’s important
We know how excited you’ll be to receive your order from us, and we want to make sure your plug plants survive, therefore, we have put together some helpful tips you should take after receiving your order.
The first thing to do is to make sure you open your parcel, even if you don’t have the time to plant your plug plants, it’s important to let them air after their journey in the post.
We send all our plug plants wet, this means we have soaked each plug before it has been packaged for delivery. We do suggest, this is also something you should do before potting them up.
Plants do like to be potted up in pots which are of a similar size to the connected root ball, and we suggest you plant your plug plants in 7-9cm pots. This will provide enough space and nutrients within your compost to allow the plant to take hold, and should take no longer then around 4 weeks to root properly, depending on growing conditions, at this point you can either pot on again or plant directly into your garden.
With all young plants, they are a target for garden pests, therefore, it’s important to keep checking your plants, and to take appropriate action if required to remove these pests, to minimise damage to your plants.
If you follow our advice we are confident you will grow happy, healthy and strong plants and be able to enjoy the flowers they provide.

Plug Plant Direct has been created from our love of gardening, and the passion we have for plants. It’s run by myself, Dan, and my partner Ste, from our home in Cheshire.
